Always use 'Run As Administrator' when launching Configuration Manager Console

In order to ensure proper functionality of Lenovo Patch and connectivity with the WSUS server, the Configuration Manager console should always be launched by using the 'Run as Administrator' option. This is in addition to ensuring the account being used is an Administrator on the server/computer.

To simplify the process of launching the Configuration Manager console, the following steps will assist in editing the properties of a shortcut link on the desktop so it will default to 'Run As Administrator.'

  1. Right-click the icon on the desktop for the Configuration Manager console.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. On the Shortcut tab, click the Advanced... button.
  4. Check the box next to Run as administrator.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click OK.

By default, when launching the console from this icon, a UAC prompt will appear requesting approval for running in the elevated context.
