Configuration When Upgrading the Windows Server Operating System
Purpose
To provide guidance when upgrading the underlying operating system or migrating to another server on the Configuration Manager server where the Lenovo Patch plugin is installed.
Process
Pre Upgrade Tasks:
Lenovo Patch Settings with a Database
- 2.4.34491.1 and newer* - From the C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\Lenovo Patch\ConnectionInfo\ConnectionSettings.cfg file, gather the Data Source (Database Server Name) and the Initial Catalog (Database Name).
- If the database is on the Configuration Manager server to decommissioned, migrate the database to the new destination SQL Server. Review and configure server and database permissions as needed.
- If the database is on a different server than the server being decommissioned, no action needed.
- 2.4.34114.0* - Open the Settings dialog. On the Shared Settings tab, gather the Server Name and the Database Name information. Keep this information for use later in the Post Upgrade Tasks section.
Lenovo Patch Settings without a Database
- 2.4.34491.1 and newer* - N/A, as a database is a requirement for these versions.
- 2.4.34114.0* - If not using the database, make a backup/copy of the Lenovo Patch.config file and the SmartFilter.xml file from each profile on the device to be upgraded/decommissioned. These files can be found in the C:\Users\<username>\Lenovo\Lenovo Patch directory.
