Understanding the Structure in your Deployment

Hierarchy Overview

Global > Account > Site > Group: These are the different levels of your deployment.
  1. Global Level: Only users with global access can create an Account.
  2. Account Level: Every Account contains at least one Site. The default Site in an Account cannot be deleted, but you can modify it.
  3. Site Level: A Site can represent a physical location (like an office) or a logical part of your organization (like a department). Each Site belongs to only one Account and inherits settings from it. However, you can adjust these settings for individual Sites.
  4. Agent Assignment: SentinelOne Agents are linked to specific Sites. Each Agent must be assigned to only one Site.

Types of Groups in Your Deployment

  1. Manual Groups: You manually assign endpoints to these groups. Once an endpoint is assigned, it will stay there unless a dynamic group interacts with it.
  2. Dynamic Groups: These groups are created using filters. If an endpoint meets the filter criteria, it automatically joins the group. Dynamic groups have priority over manual groups. If multiple dynamic groups apply to an endpoint, a SentinelOne ranking system determines which group it will belong to.
  3. Pinned Groups: These are the most permanent type of group. When an endpoint is assigned to a pinned group, it will stay there, even if it qualifies for a dynamic group.
