Platform Requirements

The preferred deployment mode for the Sepio Platform is SaaS. Customers that are required by internal regulations or compliance mandates to run from their own premises (on-premises) can install and manage Sepio. Please contact thinkshield@lenovocloudsoftware.com for additional information.

Permissions

The installation script requires administrator permissions. You should have the ability to install as root / use sudo for Linux platforms, and have Administrator permissions for Windows.

Connectivity and Firewall

The Architecture section lists the different components and connectivity. In general, all communication uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) and unless specifically mentioned, uses port 443.

Cloud Environments

You can install and run the Sepio Platform from any cloud environment that allows you to run and manage the supported Operating Systems. Such cloud environments include AWSAzureGCP and OCI.

UI

For monitoring (viewing only) the Sepio platform: there are no hardware requirements for this option. You can monitor the system from any device (smartphone, tablet and more) with a browser.



Host with a Sepio Agent

The below requirements refer to all Sepio Agent deployment modes.

  1. Windows service – Sepio Agent runs as a Windows service on a Host.
  2. Agentless – is a Management Server operation that installs agent code on a Host, not as a service, but as a Windows process.
  3. Session – a customer installed script that runs the agent code on a Host without taking up CPU.

Linux Agent Dependencies

The following dependencies are also available in the Dependencies.txt file that is part of the agent installation package.

  1. cpuid # - It is required to detect the processor id, http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/Packages/cpuid-20170122-6.el7.x86_64.rpm.
  2. dmidecode # - It is required to detect the motherboard serial + pc model fields.
  3. hhdparm # - It is required to detect the disk id.
  4. lshw #- It is required to detect the Network Interface Cards.
  5. yum-utils # - It is required for Red Hat 7.9.
  6. lttng-ust # - It is required for Red Hat 7.9.
