Granting 'Log on As A Batch Job' Privilege
Purpose
This document provides information on how to assign the user privileges associated with the usage of the Automation Scheduler functionality in the Lenovo Patch for MEM plugin. The Automation Scheduler utilizes the Microsoft Task Scheduler to run tasks and requires the Logon as a Batch Job privilege.
Configuration
The Automation Scheduler feature of the Lenovo Patch plugin creates a scheduled job within the Microsoft Task scheduler. The account being used will need to have the privilege of 'Log on as a batch job' within the security policy. By default, the Administrators group should already have this privilege; however, if you need to add a specific account or group, the steps show how to ensure the user account is granted the appropriate rights.
- Open Start < Run
- Enter SecPol.msc and click OK
- Navigate to Local Policies > User Rights Assignment

- Right-click Log on as a batch job in the list.
- Click Properties.
- Click the Add User or Group button.
- In the Select Users or Groups dialog, enter the username or group name.
- Click the Check Names button.
- Once the username or group name resolves, click the OK button.
The user guide for Lenovo Patch states the following as a requirement concerning the use of the Automation Scheduler functionality:
- The Microsoft Task Scheduler service must be enabled and the user must have the rights necessary to create scheduled tasks.
