Downloading and Installing Ivanti

To use Ivanti Neurons for IT operations, you must first deploy the Ivanti Agent on your endpoints. The agent enables communication with the Neurons Cloud and enforces policies defined by administrators.

This article describes how to download, install, and configure the agent.

Steps to Download and Install

  1. Configure Agent Policies and Enrollment Keys
    1. Navigate to Admin > Agent Policies.
    2. Define the policies to be applied to the endpoints, such as:
      1. Capabilites.
      2. Reboot Experience.
      3. Maintenance Windows.
      4. Agent Settings for Download controls and bandwith utilization.
    3. Save the policy for use during deployment.
    4. Navigate to Admin > Enrollment Keys.
    5. Create a New Key, and associate it with the policy to deploy:
      1. Use limits: Select to limit the key to a specified number of activations and duration
      2. Use maximum: Select to have the maximum number of activations (2,000,000,000), and no expiry date set for the key
  2. Deploy the Agent
    1. Navigate to Admin > Agent Deployment.
    2. Choose a deployment method:
      1. Manual Installation: Download the installer from the console and run it locally on each device. You could use a deployment tool such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Intune, or Active Directory Group Policy.
      2. Automated Deployment: Do the agent installation through the console. It’s essential to verify that all prerequisites have been met. (https://help.ivanti.com/ht/help/en_US/CLOUD/vNow/agent-deployment.htm#DeployAgentwithIvantiNeurons)
    3. Ensure the agent installer is configured with the appropriate policy package and enrollment key.
    4. Complete installation on all target devices.
  3. Verify Installation in Console
    1. Once registration is completed (successful), open the Agent Management workspace.
    2. Confirm that the newly installed devices appear with a status of Active.
    3. Go to the Edge Intelligence under the Insights workspace and confirm that the devices appear in the list and map
    4. Go to the Devices workspace and confirm that the devices appear in the list and map. The inventory information may take a couple of minutes to populate in the console, but in the meantime, you’ll be able to see the device’s basic information.
  4. Verify Installation in the Device
    1. Once registration is completed (successful), open the C:\ProgramData\Ivanti\Ivanti Cloud Agent folder, and see if the engines are being downloaded correctly.
    2. You can check in parallel in the Task Manager for processes such as: STAgent, STDownloader, STDispatch
    3. Check the Control Panel to monitor the Agent engines, they should be listed as the policy is configured.
